Congratulations Madison McDowell (Cosmetology)
inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on April 9, 2019. The NTHS honors the achievements of top career and technical education students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. These students each met rigorous criteria set forth by this national organization. Leadership, scholarship, skills, honesty, citizenship, service, and responsibility are seven attributes that an NTHS member must embody. The minimum grade point average for acceptance is 3.0. Students are also selected based upon credit hours completed, attendance, volunteer service, and membership in other student organizations. Well done Madison!
Leadership Wyoming (Page 2) a community based Leadership program that runs through the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce visited our school on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Education and Healthcare was their program focus for the month of April. The group visited classrooms to learn about our school and the amazing programs we offer here at LCS.
Miss Hill's class wrote their own stories and compiled them into a book that they created using Studentreasures Publishing. The class celebrated with a publishing party. Readers took turns reading each of their stories to the class and visiting parents, as well as a book signing.
PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) - We have had great success with recognizing positive student behavior through our PBIS program. Middle school students can receive stamps on their stamp cards from teachers and staff when a positive behavior has been displayed. Once they receive 10 stamps on their card, they can turn it in for a reward. Some examples of rewards include: assisting a teacher, lunch in the conference room, a mystery bag, or a 9th period activity in the gym (see right) with four friends. Students can also save and combine reward cards for bigger prizes. Some examples of the “bigger” prizes include: eating lunch outside with 3 friends, Walmart/Amazon gift cards, or a pizza party.
9th Period Gym Activity -
Huge success with 5th graders. Kickball has been activity of choice, having two students each turn in a PBIS card and inviting up to 4 additional friends for a kickball game.

Proposed 2019 - 2020 Budget is 21,052,784 that is a 7.24% increase. This is partially funded by a tax levy of $ 4,583,021. Under the proposed budget tax rate on true value is estimated to increase $13.81 per thousand.

Total General Support $3,029,080.63 that is a 8.358% increase from 2018 - 2019.
Total Instruction costs $9,904,230.78 that is a 3.987% increase from 2018 - 2019.
Total Transportation costs $ 1,617,265.29 that is a 14.989% increase from 2018 - 2019.
Total Community Service $ 150.00 that is a 0% change from 2018 - 2019.
Total Employee Benefits $ 4,807,041.30 that is a 0.980% increase from 2018 - 2019.
Total Debt Service (Includes Serial Bonds - Principal and interest, as well as Bond Anticipation Notes - Interest) $ 1,540,016.00 that is a 56.502% increase from 2018 - 2019.
Total Interfund Transfer $ 155,000 that is a -(3.125%) change from 2018 - 2019.
Total General Fund $ 21,052,784.00 that is a 7.243% increase from 2018 - 2019.
Meet the Candidates (Page 7) - Candidates who submitted petitions are listed in the order they will appear on the ballot. There are three (3) vacancies for the Board for three year terms (July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022). Students Reaping Huge Benefits from ACE Courses - Accelerated College Enrollment.
Local Volunteer Fire Departments give back - Six local fire departments volunteered their time to work with HS students and give them a taste of what they do when responding to emergencies and helping make our communities safer.
Special Olympics - Go Indians
Letchworth students participated in the Special Olympics on Saturday, May 4, 2019. The event was held at Avon CSD and was well represented by all of our athletes. Our athletes competed with great enthusiasm and we are very proud of their accomplishments.
